About The OLivers,Fletchers,Eddles,Palmers.
This family tree is not only of the passed but the present and the future. It is to record the bloodline of the relatives who have passed on,and the living. But also to recognise those who in the past took the risks to venture to faraway lands by ship and sea seeking an adventure ,but also a dream of a better life.THey were prepared to work hard and suffer and curse but they never gave up they married and had children and contributed to the building of a country.
We must always remember them because of what they did and achieved and this has contributed to the success of those countries today and also passed on to us a pride in our family. I think of Great grandfather Joseph Oliver and Emily Oliver (nee Fletcher) who came to Cape Town from Bristol and Bath England.
Great grand father William James Eddles and Sarah who settled in Simonstown South Africa after leaving England at the turn of the century,I think of granddad Samual Palmer and Ada Harding ,who also settled in Capetown all the way from Ireland, I also salute the Palmers who in the 1800's sailed from Ireland to America and Canada to make there dreams come true
 .John Ruskin Wrote:
When we build ,let us think that we build forever.
Let it not be for the present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone ,that a time will come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labour and wrought substance of them ,"See!This our father did for us"
